iPlayer downloading finally available to Mac and Linux users

Oranges are not the only fruit, piano black is not the only colour and Windows is not the only computer operating system. And finally, the BBC has recognised this fact by bringing the full iPlayer functionality to Mac and Linux users.

Only now can these users download the shows, rather than just stream them. It’s still not perfectly simple – this new functionality is built around the Adobe AIR platform, so you still have to download that first. It’s also available to Windows users, who prefer the look and feel of Adobe AIR apps.

To download it, click here , although be prepared to register, since it’s still in beta.
