BT launches MyPlace location based recommendations service
2009 seems set to be the year that location based services really take off, with BT adding further location fuel to the web app fire with the launch of MyPlace. This webpage will work out where you are, bear in mind your (already inputted and stored) preferences and then make recommendations on things like restaurants and activities, taking cues from such partners as TimeOut and London Pass.
You do have to access the page from BT Openzone WiFi, and it currently only works in the Westminster area of London (but that’s where we work, so I’m fine with that). Having had a quick squiz, it’s worth spending time inputting your preferences, since it seems to be suggesting Weatherspoons and Yates Wine Lodges as defaults. Ouch.
