Facebook pulls the plug on Facebook Connect

Yup as you might have inferred by all this hoo-ha over Facebook Graph and the new Facebook Like button, Facebook’s new way to integrate everything on the web into their site – they are killing Facebook Connect.

Facebook Connect let you plug FB’s social networking power into your websites but it it has been replaced by its bigger, more powerful Like + Open Graph model.

For sites which have Facebook Connect installed, we assume it will continue to function, though looking for information on Facebook Connect on the facebook.com/connect.php page now takes you to Facebook for Web Sites which talks you through all the new alternatives and information about Like and the Graph.
