EE brings 4G to Glastonbury via its, ahem, Magic Tractor

Off to Glastonbury this week? Well you are a lucky so and so. And in among tapping your toes to, errr, Mumford and Sons and checking out some sprightly pensioners aka as The Rolling Stones, you can avail yourself of some very fast broadband.

In quite a novel move EE has kitted out one of Worthy Farm’s own New Holland eco-friendly tractors with a 4G mobile hotspot. The idea being that anyone within 10 metres of the vehicle can pick up the speedy mobile broadband signal over Wi-Fi. EE has done this stunt already creating 4G hot spots via taxis.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this year’s Glastonbury where we will be installing the first ever superfast 4G network at a UK festival to help those on site stay connected. Our 4G Tractor demonstrates the innovative approach we’re taking to bring the fastest mobile internet speeds to the UK in a uniquely Glastonbury way and uses similar technology to our fleet of 4G cabs trialled earlier this year,” said Spencer McHugh, EE’s brand director.

“We hope festival goers enjoy logging on to the EE-pimped eco-tractor if they see it over the weekend.”
