Top Gear trounces Andy Murray and The Apprentice on the BBC iPlayer
The BBC has just published its performance pack figures for the iPlayer for July and it is very good news for messrs Clarkson, may and co. In spite of July being the month in which Andy Murray won Wimbledon and the corp debuted new series of popular programmes like Luther and The Apprentice, Top Gear took top slot with four episodes all receiving over two million requests.
When you consider that July saw an average of around 7.2 million daily requests that is some going by the Top gear team.
Overall the iPlayer figures in July were up 38% year on year and of the 242 million requests made 77 million were for radio – a record for the format which was mostly fuelled by The Ashes.
