Shoreditchenders updates Eastenders for the 21st Century
A couple of weeks ago it was reported that the BBC’s long running soap, Eastenders, will be receiving some updates to reflect modern life – specifically that it will see Albert Square have a little bit of Shoreditch in it – to reflect that East London is no longer working class suburbs, but achingly trendy.
For non-Londoners, Shoreditch is pretty much the epitome of hipster culture – it’s stuffed full of trendy bars, fashionable people, and crucially, the London technology scene. In fact, the roundabout at Old Street underground station has become known as the ‘Silicon Roundabout’, so tech savvy is the area.
So what are Eastenders going to do? We don’t actually know yet, but that’s not stopped one brilliant new Twitter account known as @ditchenders, which as been posting some hilarious examples of how it could turn out. Here’s our pick of the best.
