coffee-machine-La-Fenice-smlr

La Fenice

If there were an award for the most attractive coffee machine of all time… Well, that would be silly. But this would probably win. The first electromagnetic induction coffee machine, rather than measuring the temperature at the surface of the boiler, this measures the temperature of the water itself, making it 80% more energy efficient. You can make filter coffee or espresso from beans, or use it with Keurig K-Cup or Lavazza Espresso Point FAP capsules. And it looks like a beautiful steampunk angel, made from aluminium, glass and wood. It’s being produced thanks to a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign, so you’ll have to wait until later in the year to have one, but you can order now.

It’s $330 for UK delivery.

coffee-machine-Nespresso-Inissa-smlr

Nespresso Inissia

A machine aimed at coffee lovers who are new to Nespresso pods, the Inissia is designed to be simple to use, compact on your counter, and reasonably priced (without looking cheap). With an impressive 19 bar pressure, it should create a rich, smooth taste, and its pre-programmed coffee settings mean you’ll have the perfect serving size each time, and quickly – it heats up in just 25 seconds.

It’s £89.99 from Lakeland.

coffee-Illy

Hotpoint for Illy CMHPCGX0UK

A dedicated espresso machine for those devoted to their morning jolt of wake-up juice. The Hotpoint for Illy uses 19 bar pressure and heats water to a scorching 90°C for an espresso just like you’d drink in Rome – or as close as you can get on a misty English morning. It uses Illy’s Iperespresso capsule system and has a 1L capacity water tank so you can make multiple drinks at once. There are two coffee sizes and touch controls, and it takes less than a minute to fill your cup (and have you feeling human again).

It’s £129.95 from John Lewis.
