London named selfie capital of the world
We all know that London is one of the top tourist attractions worldwide, but now the capital of England has also been crowned the selfie capital of the world!
According to Suggestme, more than 14 per cent of selfies shared on social networks were captured in London, with the Big Ben, the London Eye and Buckingham Palace the most popular spots to take selfies by.
However, when it comes to individual landmarks, the Colosseum in Rome was the backdrop that photographers flocked to, to take their selfies. This was followed by the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
The analysis of 6.3million social media messages from Twitter, Facebook and Instagram found that New York and Amsterdam came in second and third place, with Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum the places where the most selfies were taken.
Barcelona, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Sydney, Istanbul and Athens complete the top 10 selfie sites. We’re not sure if this is something London should be proud of or not, but we’ll take it!
