Samsung’s Galaxy S5 sales are slipping

Samsung vs Apple is a debacle we would all like to move on from, but in those few words it is hard to forget that if its not a courtroom brawl between these two smartphone giants then it is more than likely a sales brawl.

In recent reports of Q2 sales for 2014, Samsung is said to have had its worst profit in 2 years, which is great news for Apple’s ears on the imminent approach of their iPhone 6. Research firm Counterpoint has released data detailing that the 8 month old iPhone 5S had sold 7 million devices, and the Samsung S5  had sold 5 million in May (a month after release) but still seeming to be hovering around that number 2 months later.

We can only assume that Samsung have made an error in hardware or perhaps its down to an offering of many galaxy devices, Tom Kang from Counterpoint says;

‘They made one mistake, one product that didn’t hold up to expectations and they are paying the price.’

It’s certainly not good news for Samsung going into the rest of the year and having to compete with the likes of the iPhone 6 etc.

What do you guys think? Is this down to their hardware? Did the S5 bring all it could? Will the iPhone 6 reign this year?
