Has Twitch been bought by Google?
Videos and streaming are massive in gaming right now, YouTube has grown to over a billion worldwide users and streams over 6 billion hours of video each month.
It’s been 8 years since YouTube was acquired by Google for $1.65bn, and now its set to buy streaming site Twitch for a cool $1bn. Twitch has deals with both Xbox and PS4 to have Twitch built into their software to allow quick and easy sharing of gameplay.
Reports say ‘Google has signed a deal to buy game-livestreaming firm Twitch for $1 billion, confirmed sources familiar with the matter’. Apparently the YouTube division is in charge of everything with the deal itself, this acquisition is a perfect fit for YouTube and Google with Twitch having more than 50 million monthly active users and more than 1.1 million members, it means they can get a hold on game videos as well as game livestreaming.
There is no official report on this yet, but as soon as we know we will update you.
