Hyperlapse: Instagram launches new time lapse video app in the UK
Instagram has launched a brand new app built to capture high-quality videos while you’re moving. Think of it as a time lapse video, but you don’t have to sit pointing your phone at a river or comet shower for 72 hours. It’s like awesome time-lapse in a much shorter time frame.
In a post on the official Instagram blog, everyone’s favourite photo app made the announcement, which sees a departure from static images and a focus on bringing a high-grade video setup to your mobile.
According to the post, most time lapse videos only look good if you’re holding your hand really still as you film, but Hyperlapse has a special kind of stabilisation tech built into it, allowing users to create videos that have a ‘cinematic look, quality and feel.’ It’s tricky to explain if you don’t know a lot about video, so take a look at the official promo vid we’ve embedded above for a sneak peak of how Hyperlapse works before you download it for yourself.
The Instagram team explains the process is really simple and it doesn’t rely on your needing an account like its flagship app does:
‘We designed Hyperlapse to be as simple as possible. You don’t need an account to create a hyperlapse. Instead, you open up straight to the camera. Tap once to begin recording and tap again to stop. Choose a playback speed that you like between 1x-12x and tap the green check mark to save it to your camera roll. You can share your video on Instagram easily from there.’
So there you have it. Instagram has branched out even further into the land of video and the possibilities are ENDLESS. Happy time lapsing, guys!
Hyperlapse is available from iTunes for free now.
