CES 2015: Hands-on with Polaroid’s new selfie phone with a twisting camera
Although we may all associate the brand with instant photos and the chorus “shake it like a Polaroid picture” (thanks Outkast), Polaroid is now trying its hand at mobile phones, unveiling three different models at CES 2015: The Selfie, Flip and Snap. Our editor Holly had some hands-on time with the Polaroid Selfie, by far the most interesting new offering that might just change the way we take selfies forever. Maybe.
The main USP of the Polaroid Selfie is, obviously, the camera. Rather than sticking with the tradition of a rather lame front-facing camera and a moderately better one bolted on the back, Polaroid has a single 13MP camera that can easily be twisted to any direction. You know what that means? Better quality selfies than ever. Exactly what we wished for of 2015!
The phone itself is pretty decent too, it’s running Android Lollipop and has a 720p 5.5 inch display at the front. Looks-wise it’s a fairly standard smartphone, but the swivell-y camera could well be a big draw for selfie-lovers young and old. Or, it could just be a huge gimmick. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
