Barclays Pingit will soon let you send money via Twitter
Sending money over the internet was once a hassle. You either needed someone’s bank details, or you had to suck it up and deal with the fact that PayPal takes a slice of each transaction. Nowadays it’s getting easier, first Google lets us email each other money, and now Barclays’ Pingit app is going to let us send money via Twitter.
At the moment Pingit lets you send money to other people, regardless of who your bank account is actually with, by using their phone number. From 10th of March that process will be even easier, and you’ll be able to use the app to send and receive money using nothing more than Twitter handles.
According to Barclays, there will continue to be no person-to-person transaction fees. Thanks Barclays, we all appreciate that point the most.
Obviously both people involved in a money transfer will need to have their own Twitter accounts for this to work. Setting that up is as easy as heading into Pingit’s settings and telling Pingit what your Twitter username is.
So if that sounds like the ideal way for you to transfer money around, you can download Pingit on Android, iOS, and Windows Phone.
