7 of the best new beauty launches for March
Introducing Sascha Taylor-Curtis, otherwise known as the brilliant Beauty Geek UK, as ShinyShiny’s new Beauty Editor. Here’s your heads-up on all the best new beauty launches for March 2015.
March is a big month for beauty launches as all the Spring collections start arriving, meaning lots of room for creative colour and fun. There are some great new arrivals this month, such as the GOSH Xtreme Liquid Gel Eyeliners, a budget-friendly collection of nine bright, yet wearable shades with a slender foam tip that allows for easy application. These are £5.99 a go.
I’ve struggled to narrow down my favourite product in the Bobbi Brown Hot Collection, a beautiful line of wearable brights inspired by Florida – the hometown of brand ambassador Kate Upton – as they include some amazing lip products that I cannot stop reaching for. Having said that, if you just pick up one thing from the collection, I’d recommend going for one of the Cheek Palettes since they’re skin tone specific (although that shouldn’t stop you from going for the colour combination you like most, since Bobbi Brown products tend to flatter most skin tones) but more importantly, they’re also limited edition meaning they won’t be around for long, and cost £34.
Every year, L’Occitane release a product for Women’s Day to honour the women of Burkina Faso, the African region where Shea Butter was first discovered. The product for this year is the apricot-scented Ultra Soft Balm that will inevitably become a handbag essential due to the fact that it’s multi-purpose, so it’s great for cuticles, dry patches, lip conditioning and taming flyaways. It’s £4, and all profits go to charity making this wonderfully fruity balm a very worthy purchase that you will want to continually sniff.
If you like your make-up to look a little worn-in, dewy and natural then the Pixi Glow Mist is the launch for you. It’s another multi-use product packed full of skincare-loving oils, so you can use it as a moisturising primer, a setting spray (my personal favourite) and a make-up refresher too. It’s the best thing I’ve tried for adding dewiness to a heavy coverage finish, so if your skin is far from perfect and you wear a lot of make-up, finishing with this mist will leave skin looking naturally glowy, making this a bargain at £15.
Speaking of bases, if you need a lot of coverage but don’t like a mask-like finish, the new Clinique 2in1 Beyond Perfecting Foundation + Concealer is well worth a try. It provides buildable coverage that allows you to apply it first all over as a base, before then following up with concealer-like touch-ups. Even though it comes in an impressive 21 shades, there doesn’t seem to be any to suit the very pale, so it’s worth trying this out instore before committing to a purchase if you’re on the lighter side. It’s £25.
Spring is in the air, and there’s nothing quite like the vision of a bright yellow Daffodil to reassure you that sun is on the way. Penhaligon’s have captured the beautiful aroma of daffodils in their newest launch, Ostara. It’s chic, feminine, floral (obviously) and immediately evokes the feeling of Springtime, so if you’re craving something sunny to lift your mood (or looking for a luxury Mother’s Day present), Ostara is the one for you, with prices starting at £78.
Lastly, since sunny weather is now a likely possibility, it’s time to start de-fuzzing. Veet have just launched their Spawax kit which allows for heated waxing at home, making salon results now more convenient and achievable. The initial kit gives you the wax heater and six of the wax discs to get you started, then you can purchase wax disc refills as and when you need them. There are also two scents to pick from, Purple Lily and Sugar Fig (the ones that come with the kit) or White Orchid and Vanilla, with the kit costing £39.99 and the refill discs costing £8.99 for 6.
