Cinderella’s Richard Madden perfectly sums up what to look for in a partner

There’s been a whole lot of flap recently about whether the new Cinderella film is outdated, showing a heroine with an allegedly CGI waistline being ‘rescued’ by a royal. In response, Game of Thrones star (and haver of ridiculously blue eyes) Richard Madden gave the BBC the perfect answer:
“My job was to create a prince that was worthy of her affection.
She would be fine without him. That’s the character. She’s strong and brave and doesn’t need him.
Actually they bring out the best in each other and that’s why I wanted to do this because it wasn’t that slightly old-fashioned message and probably not the best message to tell children, that you need a man with a big house and lots of money to rescue you from your terrible life.
Actually you need somebody that brings out the best in you and encourages you.”
Arguably, it wouldn’t be difficult to bring out the best in Madden’s talented girlfriend, the brilliant Jenna Coleman of Doctor Who fame. But we love his take on being a great partner. Definitely something to keep in mind next time you’re weighing up that guy you met on Tinder.*
*Still more romantic than some dude finding your shoe.
