LG are handing out 4,000 LG G4 phones before launch

Hot on the heels of LG’s user experience video teasing some of the features we can expect on the upcoming LG G4, Lucky Goldstar (yes, that really is what it stands for) have announced they’ll be choosing 4,000 lucky customers across 15 markets to ‘test drive’ the new phone. The initiative kicks off today in Korea, but will also be coming to the US, UK, Turkey, Indonesia, Singapore, China, India, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Mexico, Japan and Hong Kong. Given that the phone isn’t even being announced properly until the end of this month, that gives the winners serious bragging rights.

Here’s the teaser for the phone:

Details are deliberately vague about what you’ll have to do to get hold of it, but it sounds like some X Factor-style hoop jumping to us: “Participants will be selected from applicants based on their entry responses… Selection criteria will be varied depending on each market.”

And if you win? You get the phone for “up to 30 days to experience its unique design and features, including its personalised UX, high performance camera and impressive display for sharing online. Participants will be given various assignments to carry out over the course of their experience and rewards will be given.”

Is one of the rewards the phone…?

Juno Cho, president and CEO of the expansively-named LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said: “Customers are our biggest fans and we think this would be an exciting and unique way to get our most important mobile product of the year close to the public. We’re putting the success of LG G4 in the hands of consumers before the launch because we believe they are the best judge of a great user experience, not benchmarks or speed tests.”

That suggests LG will be seeking feedback from their test pilots, and hopefully incorporating it before the phone’s released to the public. A public handset beta test would be a great way to get customers interested and invested in the phone.

So, what will UK consumers have to do to get one of the tester LG G4 units? All LG will say is to keep checking their website and social media. We’d suggest following them on Twitter and Facebook now if you want to be involved.
